5 Things We Learned... Isabel Froes

ISABEL FROES, INTERACTION AND SERVICE DESIGN RESEARCHER

COPENHAGEN, DK

I met Isabel Froes over 10 years ago at a dinner in the Lower East Side. My impression of her remains now what it was then: she's incredibly warm, intelligent, and funny. Originally from Brazil, Isabel has lived in Copenhagen for over 15 years. Her passion for the Danish cultural sector and focus on human-centered design has translated itself into an array of notable projects - her latest being a sustainable urbanization and mobility project for the European Commission. She combines a background in psychology, interaction and service design, and user-research with an aim to bridge cultures, technology, and design through various projects. She believes in playful creative approaches and in the power of storytelling. Isabel has a PhD in Service Design, an MA in Interactive Communication, and a BA in Psychology.

Here are 5 Things We Learned About Isabel.

What made you...you?

A combination of lots of curiosity, openness, a large, strong family and dear friends, plus having little money. Thus having to struggle to achieve what I wanted.

When are you happiest?

When I am with dear people or when Iā€™m blown away by something I read, hear or see.

Would you rather have a muse or be a muse?

I think we need a bit of both in different contexts.

Who do you admire?

People who challenged/challenge the status quo.

What is important?

Kindness and sincerity
